At Kee Essentials, our psychiatric evaluations and assessments are the critical first step toward understanding your mental health and building a treatment plan that truly works for you. Led by Dr. Annette Kee, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, our board-certified providers bring years of specialized clinical experience to every evaluation — ensuring you receive an accurate diagnosis, a clear picture of your mental health, and a compassionate, collaborative path forward.
What Is a Psychiatric Evaluation?
A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive, in-depth assessment conducted by a licensed mental health provider. It goes far beyond a standard check-up — your provider will explore your emotional history, current symptoms, lifestyle, family background, medical history, and personal goals. The goal is not simply to assign a diagnosis, but to understand you as a whole person so that your care plan reflects your unique needs, strengths, and circumstances.
At Kee Essentials, evaluations are available both in-person at our Las Vegas office and via secure telepsychiatry from anywhere in Nevada.
What to Expect at Your First Evaluation
Your first appointment at Kee Essentials is a conversation — not an interrogation. Here is what you can expect:
- A warm, welcoming environment where you feel safe to speak openly
- A thorough review of your personal, medical, and psychiatric history
- Discussion of your current symptoms, concerns, and treatment goals
- An honest, collaborative conversation about diagnosis and next steps
- A personalized treatment plan developed together with your provider
- Follow-up scheduling for medication management, therapy, or further testing
Most initial evaluations last approximately 60 minutes. We encourage you to come prepared with any previous mental health records, a list of current medications, and any questions you’d like to discuss.

Tempus & Genesight Genetic Testing
At Kee Essentials, we go beyond the standard evaluation by offering cutting-edge pharmacogenomic testing through Tempus and Genesight. These simple cheek-swab tests analyze your unique DNA to determine how your body is likely to metabolize and respond to specific psychiatric medications.
This means:
- Fewer frustrating rounds of trial-and-error with medications
- Reduced risk of adverse side effects
- Faster, more targeted treatment that works with your biology
- Smarter, evidence-based prescribing from day one
Genetic testing is a game-changer for patients who have tried multiple medications without success, or who are starting treatment for the first time and want the most informed approach possible.
Who Should Schedule an Evaluation?
You may benefit from a psychiatric evaluation if you:
- Have been experiencing persistent sadness, worry, mood swings, or emotional distress
- Are struggling with focus, memory, impulsivity, or behavioral challenges
- Have a history of mental health conditions and are seeking a new provider
- Are currently on psychiatric medications but feel they aren’t working well
- Have recently experienced a major life event such as trauma, loss, or a major transition
- Simply want a professional assessment of your mental health and wellness
You don’t need to be in crisis to seek an evaluation. Taking this step is an act of strength and self-care.
